This is what we behavioral health professionals promote with our clients, but do we pay attention to it for ourselves? I tend to find myself seeking the balance between being productive at work, recreation, family, friends, broken appliances, washing dishes/ clothes, etc. in a never ending process of managing life and the inevitable stress associated with it. Then, as soon as I find a period of relaxation, I find something else to add to my plate!
I don’t know if you have ever heard of this - I had not until today – June is Professional Wellness Month! We definitely would benefit from taking some time to ensure our life is in “balance” and that we are pursuing a reasonable level of wellness. Preventing a problem is so much easier than fixing one.
We recommend Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) to our clientele, but when is the last time we have paid attention to our own. If you have not done that in awhile, June is your month!
